Stockton Education & Outreach Project

Stockton EOP Fellows collecting surveys at a community event.

TOLA launched and piloted the Stockton Education & Outreach Project in June 2021 and selected a diverse cohort of 20 organizers, a multicultural and multigenerational group from all corners of the Stockton community to participate. The project goal was to empower residents to better understand the needs of local families in order to support student learning in Stockton.

TOLA organizers spent Saturdays attending education seminars to become more knowledgeable about the status of education in Stockton, while also learning the basics of community organizing by going door-to-door, phone banking and attending community events to collect surveys citywide. The project lasted twelve weeks. Over 5,000 conversations in the community led to 1,500 completed surveys.
